Imagine a sauna puffing smoke out of the chimney with some nice seating area and some people getting in etc.

Manx hills in the background, maybe a bit of the ocean in view. Point of Ayre side fields?

The Why

Believe it or not, the journey started with the cold.

In the year 2019 a huge shift started taking place. The world changed dramatically when our lives were being threatened by a world event that had us all in a state of fear. Our immune systems were being attacked by an invisible force. Bringing to the surface the importance of maintaining good health mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Cold water exposure was brought to light by a man named Wim Hof, famously known as “The Iceman”. On our isle, the Isle of Man, we are lucky enough to have our very own Wim Hof instructor, Ian Kirk (aka Kirky). Ian gave me the confidence to get in the cold Irish Sea when the sea temperatures were as low as 7 degrees Celsius, which unexpectedly became a morning ritual for me. Combining cold exposure with an early rise, exercise and community, this quickly became a “thing” aka “Morning Momentum” and naturally this was why the sauna idea came to mind and was brought to fruition.

Heat exposure from the sauna experience has equally important benefits to what cold exposure has to offer, the combination of cold and hot is next level. The combinations continue to grow every session. And so does the community spirit. Forever grateful to be on this journey and offering an experience full of joy and countless benefits.

Some benefits

Hearts depicting good cardiovascular health

Improved Circulation and Cardiovascular Health.

The heat from a sauna causes your blood vessels to dilate, which improves blood flow and can help lower blood pressure over time. Regular sauna use has been linked to better heart health and reduced risks of cardiovascular disease.

Detoxification.

Sweating in a sauna helps your body rid itself of toxins. The high temperatures promote deep sweating, which helps flush out heavy metals, chemicals, and other waste products from the body, supporting detoxification efforts.

Muscle Relaxation & Pain Relief.

The heat from the sauna can help relax tense muscles and relieve soreness. It's often used for post-workout recovery as it reduces muscle stiffness and can alleviate joint pain or discomfort from conditions like arthritis.

Stress Relief & Mental Health

Saunas provide a calming environment, which can help reduce stress levels and promote relaxation. The heat also stimulates the production of endorphins, the body’s natural "feel-good" hormones, improving mood and overall mental well-being.

What to Expect.

We'd recommend you arrive 5 minutes early to your session so you can get changed, and be ready to enter the sauna when it's your slot. There will always be someone manning the sauna to help you with timings so you receive the full experience.

An hour may seem long, but trust us, the time flies. You don't spend the full hour in the sauna, because to boost the experience you should aim to sit in for 5-15 mins, exit the sauna, have a cold water rinse using the shower (or jump in the ocean), and then return to the heat.  This dramatically improves the effects the sauna has on your body.

Once your hour is up you will feel absolutely amazing, and this effect will carry on for a few hours, if not set you up for the rest of the week.

Relax, rejuvenate, and revitalise.

See you at the sauna.

FAQ's

  • You could sauna every day if you wanted.

But keep in mind that, again, sauna-ing is a stressor on your body. There’s a balance you have to walk with it. At the right dose, sauna sessions can help you recover from life and workouts. Too much though, and they can actually increase your fatigue. You can get the benefits of sauna-ing with just two 20-minute sessions a week. Experiment to see what works for you, and again, listen to your body.

  • The general recommendation is 10 to 20 minutes per session, especially for beginners. For experienced sauna users, staying in for up to 30 minutes can be fine, but it’s crucial to listen to your body. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or uncomfortable, it’s time to leave. Always stay hydrated and take breaks if necessary.

  • People with conditions like heart disease, low blood pressure, skin conditions (like eczema or psoriasis), respiratory problems (such as asthma), or pregnancy should be cautious. It’s best to consult a healthcare provider before using a sauna, as heat can stress the body and may exacerbate certain conditions.

  • We recommend  wearing whatever you feel comfortable in - but no birthday suits! It’s important to ensure comfort and hygiene. Always check local sauna rules to follow any guidelines for what to wear, especially in public spaces.

  • Saunas are typically heated between 150°F to 190°F (65°C to 90°C). Traditional Finnish saunas are usually on the higher end, while infrared saunas tend to be lower, around 110°F to 140°F (45°C to 60°C). The optimal temperature depends on the type of sauna and personal preference, but it should be hot enough to induce sweating without causing discomfort.
